Why Small Jobs Still Have a Trip Fee

Some home repairs look quick from the outside. A loose towel bar, a small drywall patch, a wobbly shelf, a sticky door, or a quick fixture swap can seem like a “five-minute job.”

Sometimes the hands-on part really is quick.

But a professional repair visit includes more than the few minutes you see. You are paying for travel, preparation, tools, experience, problem-solving, careful work, cleanup, and the peace of mind that the job was done correctly.

At Trish of All Trades, my goal is not to rush through your home as fast as possible. My goal is to leave you with work that is safe, solid, clean, and done with pride.

Our Minimum Trip Fee is currently $95 for homes within about a 30-minute average drive from our HQ.
For jobs within our Extended Service Area, the Minimum Trip Fee is $125 (covers first hour) with a 2 hour minimum ($75 per hour after the first hour).\n

What Your Trip Fee Covers:

Travel time
Communication time
Time spent assessing the issue
Tools and basic materials like screws, drywall anchors, etc.
Acquiring the right materials for your project
The first hour of labor including setup, performing the task, and cleanup
Fuel and vehicle expenses
The proper insurance to protect your home
The experience to choose the right repair approach, even when the repair itself is small, the visit still requires professional time, care, and attention.

Small Repairs Can Be More Complicated Than They Look

Repairs often involve existing conditions. A loose fixture may have damaged drywall behind it. A sticking door might involve hinges, framing, flooring, humidity, or settling. A small patch may need texture, primer, and paint to blend properly.

That is why we take the time to look at the issue, explain what we see, and recommend the best path forward.

Our Approach

We believe small jobs deserve the same care as big ones. Whether we are mounting a shelf, patching drywall, adjusting a door, assembling furniture, or replacing a fixture, we want the finished result to feel sturdy, clean, and dependable.

You are not just paying for a few minutes with a drill or screwdriver.

You are hiring someone who will show up prepared, treat your home with respect, communicate clearly, and do the work with care.
